Double Under Clinic:9:00-12:00pm
No CF Kids Today due to Double Under Clinic!
Open Gym is ON for today. Although we will be hosting the DU clinic, I didn’t want to restrict anyone from getting their points. SO, I do ask that we keep all Open gym activities to the turf and behind. If you want to do a WOD we can move the rowers to a corner to allow for working room. Thanks for your cooperation.
Prepare for the Open! Open season begins this coming Thursday February 25 and continues through Sunday March 27. 5 workouts, 5 weeks. Registration is live!!! Click here to register for the CrossFit Games Open. Select CrossFit Beverly as your team. Test yourself, push yourself, get involved! This is a global event and is the one time of the year you can measure yourself with athletes from around the world of similar abilities. I know, I know, you really aren’t that competitive. But, what better way to measure your training and hard work then to see how you measure up on a global scale. Anticipated participation is 300,000 people. Where else can you get a sampling of where you stand against the world? We will be programming the workouts Friday’s and Saturday’s. Team WOD will be on hold during the Open and we will run heats where athletes will have a judge to count reps. Get ready, it’s gonna be AWESOME!!
Come in Thursday evenings at 7:00pm during the Open to view the live release of the workouts followed by the celebrity face off performing the workouts. We will have the big screen set up in the lobby for anyone who wants to hang out and watch the festivities.

Some of you expressed concern your registration didn’t go through. Here is a list of paid and scheduled attendees.

We are 6 weeks through the Nutrition Challenge with only 2 weeks remaining! We have some very close attendance races with 5 teams within 1/2 a day per team average. Keep it up, only 2 weeks left, it’s gonna be a nail biter. Remember, attendance is worth 1/3 of your teams overall score. Before you think about skipping, or hitting the snooze, or driving straight home and laying on the couch, keep in mind your team is counting on you to get points. Frequent attendance is sure to assist in trimming your “Jackie” time come March 10. I hope all of you are feeling better, more alert and sleeping better. If you are on Facebook and are not in the CrossFit Beverly Community Chat page, please request into the group and the admins will get you in. Remember, for the challenge to be effective, wether it be weight loss, change in your body composition, strength building, or increased endurance/stamina, 3 days a week minimum is is where you will see results (as long as you are following a good nutrition plan.) Remember, attendance is a variable in your teams overall score. If you miss days throughout the week you can make it up on Wednesday evening Open Gym or Sunday morning Open Gym. You can redo a workout from previous posts, make up your own, or spend time on skill work or strength training. We will log you in to the Open Gym sessions and you will receive points for attendance. However, as stated earlier, rest is also important. 7 days a week is not recommended. Please take at least 1 day a week off. Boot camp also counts for attendance, but you can not receive multiple points per day for attendance. For those of you who double up, WOD then Boot camp, while commendable and bold, it’s only 1 point.
Gold Standard is scheduled to be here Wednesday March 9 between 2 and 8pm. Sign up is live, click here to schedule your slot. Sign up early to assure the time you want as the day’s calendar will be full. Re-tests are $35. Re-testing is mandatory to keep your team in the running for the $1600 cash prize. If we don’t have your before/after data then we can not score you thus putting your team at a huge deficit of securing points. Sign up, spaces are filling up fast!
It is our pleasure to be participating again in Workout To Wipeout Domestic Violence held Saturday March 19. This is our 5th year as a venue for this event (every year since the program started) and we are proud to do our part. While we will be performing The Open WOD 16.4 we ask you to bring a donation of $25 to support A New Direction. You can pre-register and make a donation on line by clicking here, or bring a generous donation Saturday March 19.
A New Direction Beverly Morgan Park (AND) was founded in 2011 by a grassroots group of community members and other professionals who saw a need–the need to help women and children in the Beverly/Morgan Park community who are victims of domestic violence. These individuals felt it was no longer acceptable to let this issue stand unaddressed in our community.
AND is dedicated to helping women break the cycle of violence. In 2013, thanks to a generous earmarked gift from the Mary Elizabeth Waller Foundation, AND added a children’s therapist to its staff. And, recently, AND was proud to announce the hire of its first Executive Director.
AND is committed to all who utilize its services, as well as its donors and stakeholders. Though our clients are primarily from the Beverly/Morgan Park community (Chicago), AND has no geographic boundaries, and serves women, men and children from any area with the vision to, one day, have every home be safe and free of domestic violence and abuse.
Athletes: please do us a solid in an effort to conserve plastic cups and the CFB janitorial budget by bringing a water bottle from home. There are days the Box looks like a bar with all the half full water cups. Supplying cups is a courtesy however the excess has gotten out of hand and taken advantage of. Thanks
Winter has been mild, which means puddles and mud. Please bring an indoor pair of shoes so not to track in salt and muck from the outside onto the gym floor. Wet, salty shoes wreaks havoc on the rowing machine foot pegs, the rubber floor and everyone’s clothing when they drop down in a puddle of someone else’s shoe muck. Also the floor when wet can be incredibly slippery. Thanks for your cooperation.
Thanks to all of you who are “liking” the daily web posts on Facebook. It really is working and we are now reaching 400-500 of you a day which is a great boost. People have been telling us they are now getting the WOD posts on Facebook to come up on their newsfeed. This is great news, so please continue so we can expand our reach and share with the area our program. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
For those who have taken a shine to Olympic Lifting, there are a few events coming up in new year that we can get you trained for and get you involved.
-June 25 @ Sayre Park Summer Open

-September 11@ CrossFit Alpha Dog Meet
