Happy New Year!!! It has been quite a beginning to the new year. We have seen many PR’s to start off 2015. Through hard work, regular attendance and following our programming we are seeing some astounding improvements in strength and stamina. This current cycle has been a bit unorthodox. While we are on a strength cycle, I have tried to follow a different approach where we are building strength while giving our Met Con folks their time too. After seeing and reading all the gains, I feel good our approach has been effective. We are now going to move into a more conditioning program. With the Open coming up in February, we are going to keep the strength going with a bit more conditioning. I am really excited to see how we do come Open season as I have seen some incredible improvements in so many of you.
We would like to try a new approach to your training. I would like to sit down with all of you for a 10-15 min session and discuss your goals. I would like to have you share with me some goals you would like to see this year. I’m not looking for New Year’s resolutions, rather an opportunity for me to keep a journal of your goals and keep you on track. An opportunity for us to look at periodically how you are progressing. If not, why and what can be done to correct it? If yes, let’s keep rolling and move to the next thing. Friday, we saw a lot of PR’s on the hang cleans & jerks. We also are seeing a lot more Double Unders. The program is designed for you to progress if you follow and follow the numbers and percentages you will have gains. We are going to erase the Goals Board in the back. Some have added new goals this week. For those with old goals, re-write them and stick to them, but I want everyone to post something on that board.
January On-Ramp begins January 12 at 6:30pm. Tell your friends and family who may be interested in CrossFit to com in for a free session on Saturdays or Wednesdays to try us out. If they follow through and sign up for On-Ramp, we will give you 25% off next month’s membership dues.
The 2015 CrossFit Open begins Feb 26, Registration will commence January 15. This year the powers that be have created a scaled category. This way everyone can participate without feeling the programing is too much. The Open, either Rx or scaled is a great measure to see where you stack up amongst the 210,000 athletes who will participate this year globally. I, for one, am looking forward to the season. Who knows, maybe I will be 1 of 200 in my Masters category to be invited to the Masters qualifier. Maybe one of you can qualify for Regionals, who knows unless you try?
