On Ramp

We require athletes new to CrossFit to enter through our On Ramp protocol.  On Ramp will introduce new athletes to the 9 foundational movements of CrossFit (Squat, Front Squat, Overhead Squat, Shoulder Press, Push Press, Push Jerk, Deadlift, Sumo Deadlift High Pull, and Medicine Ball Clean) as well as familiarize them with the CrossFit language and exercises incorporated in a typical CrossFit WOD (Workout of the Day.) The On-Ramp Protocol is a 12 day program which prepares athletes for regular CrossFit classes.  We emphasize skill development and exposure to basic movements which are foundational to CrossFit.  We introduce athletes to technique and mechanics before intensity.  The intensity will come, but we need to assure proper movement to provide safety for the athlete.  The movements at first are relatively non technical and we progress daily to more advanced and technical.  We emphasize that athletes need to show up for all 12 classes as the daily movements compound upon each other.  We spend much of the hour working on skill development and trying to get the athlete fluid with the movements and then we have a WOD at the end of the class.  The On Ramp program is $175 and once completed the remainder of the month is open to joining any WOD classes on the schedule.

On-Ramp:  12 session with remainder of month upon completion includes admission to WODs. $175

    • We allow guests to come for free on Saturday mornings at 11 am. Guests are always welcome for a drop in charge of $15 all other times, otherwise we encourage athletes who show up regularly to be members. This helps with community building and rapport amongst all athletes. If you purchase a 10 punch or 20 punch card for yourself you may use that to support any guest you would like to bring along with you.
      Thank you for your interest.

    • Brian, We are wrapping up our January On-Ramp (Beginning week 3 of 3.) We will start another in February once we have a few people signed up. Classes run during our regular hours, 5:30 am, 6:30 am Monday, Tuesday Thursday and Friday. There is also a 7:15 pm Mon, Tue and Thurs. Then 4, 5, or 6 pm Friday. We don’t run On Ramp over the weekends but encourage On-Rampers to join in the weekend WODs to meet other members and get a feel for what to expect after On-Ramp. Don’t hesitate to stop by this Saturday or any Saturday at 11 for a free WOD and meet the team. We look forward to meeting you. Thanks for your interest.

    • We will be offering a new On-Ramp in the beginning of April. April 2 to be specific. It runs for 3 weeks 4 days a week. Call anytime or stop by during our regular business hours (Friday afternoons or Saturday mornings are best) and we can discuss further and get you enrolled.
Thanks for your interest in CrossFit Beverly. We hope to see you soon.

  1. im currently doing crossfit at OLAF in Batavia and will be moving back to Alsip for the summer. I’m interested in joining Beverly! I noticed for the 3 month unlimited is $100 and there is a 20% discount for students. I will be graduating from my bachelor in may and plan to use your box from mid may- mid august. I’ll be going back to graduate school in august. Since im not in school the 3 months i’ll be there will I not qualify for the 20% for students? Thanks for your time!

    • The On-Ramp is both instructional and physical. The physical aspect may not have the intensity or difficulty of a regular class, but they are designed to teach and promote proper movement an athlete can expect to see in a WOD once out of On-Ramp. The purpose of On-Ramp is to “ramp up” the intensity and increasing an athletes capacity to perform better once moved into the regular classes.
I hope this helps. Please reach out with any other questions. We will begin a new On-Ramp Monday July 9.

    • Hey Tim,

We are still working on July On-Ramp right now. We are trying to sort out August’s schedule, but it will most likely begin August 2. We will keep you informed as the dates get closer and give you the opportunity to sign up.

Thanks for your interest in CrossFit Beverly.

      John

  2. I was thinking of coming up saturday to the free class to check it out. Do I need to sign up for it or is there always room?

    • Hey Nick,

Thanks for your interest in CrossFit Beverly and our On-Ramp program. We have set a start date of September 10th and will run 3 weeks with classes on Monday-Thursday at 7 pm. We will include you in our email blast for interested athletes to jump in.

Thanks again, we look forward to seeing you soon

      • I’m interested in taking the on-ramp classes, but am unable to make the classes in September. Do you know what the schedule will be for October & are the on-ramp sessions ever offered in the morning (preferably before 7:00)?

      • Hi Kathleen, We are sorry to hear you won’t be able to attend On-Ramp in September. Our tentative start schedule for October is October 8th. Currently we do not offer a daytime On-Ramp class as our On-Ramp coach, Jim, has a full time day job. If more interest in days becomes something we need to look at, then we can make arrangements for a class.
Thanks, we look forward to having you join the group in October.

  3. I’m interersted in a daytime On-Ramp in October. I also cannot make the Saturday free class as I work on Sat. Are there any alternatives if I can’t do the On-Ramp or Sat. class?

    • Hey Jim, Come see us on a Friday afternoon if you can. We can let you do our “Baseline” workout then. If we get enough interest we can offer a daytime On-Ramp. We will let you know, but first try and see us as soon as you can.
Thanks so much for your interest.
